How To Root OnePlus 5T-Complete Guide [Without Using PC]

As we all know the OnePlus new trending smartphone OnePlus 5T has hit the market recently and its bootloader has already been unlocked. The OnePlus 5 has received an official build of the TWRP custom recovery. Now the only thing is required to be done is to root the OnePlus 5T. We will root it without using PC with either Magisk or SuperSU app. All this depends on the choice of users which one they want to follow. But just for info, Magisk root tool is more used by users these days and it's a systemless root solution. In the past few months, Magisk has successfully surpassed SuperSU since it is more active in development as well.




Just before we begin to root the phone, many users would like to learn and know why the phone should be rooted and what is root access. 
Well, there is a whole new world of opportunities hiding inside your smartphone which requires root access to run on. There are millions of apps you can install and use those opportunities. These apps will enhance the control over your phone. For example the app "Titanium Backup" which is available to be installed when your phone is rooted and this app can backup every bit present on your phone.
Xposed Framework is another root application that itself is a whole new world of customization enabling Android users to make modifications to the whole new world.

Things to be done before rooting:-
  • Backup your contacts, call logs, text messages and media content.
  • Enable USB Debugging mode on your phone.
  • To do so, go to Settings > About Phone > Tap the build number for 7 times.
  • Now get back to Settings > scroll down > open Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging now.
  • Enable OEM Unlocking on your phone. To do so, go to Settings > About Phone > scroll all the way down > Developer Options > Enable OEM Unlocking.
  • Unlock the bootloader of your OnePlus 5T.
  • Install TWRP custom recovery on your OnePlus 5T.
Follow this guide carefully.


How to Root OnePlus 5T [Without Using PC]

  1. Download Magisk.zip file or SuperSU.zip file.
  2. I’m assuming that you have installed TWRP recovery o your OnePlus 5T. We only have to root the phone for now.
  3. Now that your phone is in the TWRP recovery mode, swipe the screen to allow system modifications.
  4. Now choose the language in TWRP recovery and then tap Never show this screen on boot again. Swipe to allow modifications now.
  5. Connect your phone to your computer and copy SuperSU or Magisk over the MTP mode.
  6. Now in TWRP, tap Install > locate and select SuperSU or Magisk. This choice totally depends on you.
  7. Once again swipe to confirm flash.
  8. Once done, get back to home-screen in TWRP and tap Reboot > System.
  9. Once your phone boots up, you will find OnePlus 5T rooted. You can now verify root access using root checker application.
